12:00 AM – Oduduwa Shrine
Duration: 1 hour
A two-minute walk inside the palace complex, the Oduduwa Shrine is believed to be where Oduduwa descended and founded Ile-Ife. Visit the sacred Iroko tree and ritual points that continue to hold deep spiritual significance. The atmosphere is peaceful, reflective, and offers a unique insight into Yoruba tradition.

1:30 AM – Lunch at Aje Market
Enjoy an authentic local dining experience at Aje Market. Popular meals include Amala with Ewedu and Gbegiri, Pounded Yam, or roasted corn and plantain. Beyond the food, the market is also one of the best places to shop for traditional beads, fabrics, and locally made souvenirs.
3:00 PM – Ife National Museum
Duration: 1.5 hours
This is one of the most important stops on your journey through Ile-Ife. The Ife National Museum houses the world-famous Ife Bronze Heads alongside remarkable terracotta sculptures dating from 700–1000 AD. These masterpieces transformed global perceptions of African civilization and remain among the finest examples of early African art.

5:00 PM – Opa Oranmiyan (Oranmiyan Staff)

Visit the towering granite monolith known as Opa Oranmiyan, traditionally associated with the legendary Yoruba prince and warrior, Oranmiyan. Standing approximately 18 feet tall, the monument remains one of Ile-Ife’s most recognizable landmarks. 10:30 AM – Obafemi Awolowo University Tour
Duration: 1.5 hours
Take a guided tour of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most beautiful and prestigious universities. Explore notable landmarks including Oduduwa Hall, the Amphitheatre, landscaped gardens, and selected campus museums. Located just about ten minutes from the city centre, OAU offers a refreshing blend of education, architecture, and nature.

2:00 PM – Ojaja Resort / Ile Oodua Park / Scrap Art Museum
Spend a relaxing afternoon at Ojaja Resort or Ile Oodua Park. Developed under the authority of the Ooni of Ife, the resort features beautifully landscaped gardens, comfortable chalets, recreational facilities, and cultural spaces. It provides the perfect opportunity to unwind before your journey home and is ideal for couples, families, and leisure travellers alike. Or, visit one of Ile-Ife’s most distinctive contemporary cultural attractions, the Scrap Art Museum. Q5: Are the attractions open on Mondays and Sundays?
The Ife National Museum is closed on Mondays. Ooni’s Palace is generally open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although royal ceremonies may affect visiting hours. The Oduduwa Shrine is open daily. We recommend confirming availability before your visit.
Q6: Can I take photos?
Yes. Photography is permitted in the palace courtyard and within the Ife National Museum upon payment of the applicable camera fee. However, photography is strictly prohibited inside the Oduduwa Shrine and the Ooni’s throne room due to their cultural and spiritual significance.
